I want to share how a start-up eCommerce brand dominates the puzzle board niche.
Nichee Digital was able to skyrocket their Shopify store on Google. With consistent and strategic content creation, the team hit the SEO goals.
TL;DR [too long;didn’t read] section. Lol.
- The Challenge: No time for SEO. Low search volume keywords. Low product interest.
- The SEO Strategy: Brand authority building. Consistent and strategic content creation.
- SEO Results: First-page ranking with rich snippets. Optimized product pages and images.
Here's what you will learn:
Project Background:
Found this client on onlinejobs.ph last 2018. The client is a founder of a start-up digital marketing agency based in California, USA. Like most start-ups, we juggle multiple tasks from different eCommerce clients. One of which is a puzzle board organizer company.
Client’s Product: Jigsaw Puzzle Board Organizer
Target Audience: Women and Family Puzzle Enthusiast
SEO Task: All-in content creation and optimization. From keyword research to content creation, blog publication on the Shopify website, and down to optimization.
The Challenge
- Working in an agency, we need to juggle multiple clients. It means time is limited but manageable. (I’m a freelancer now, btw.)
- Young generations are more into solving digital puzzles than solving traditional jigsaw puzzles. It’s hard to market if the audience is not interested.
- Since not everyone is into puzzles, most of our target keywords have low search volume keywords. It feels like doing keyword research, blindfolded. Seriously.
My SEO Content Strategy
- Awareness – Product awareness is crucial in the marketing funnel. And since our target money keywords have low search volume, I decided to target related keywords: informative blogs, pros and cons, benefits of puzzles, traditional vs digital puzzles among other studies. The strategy allows us to establish the value of the product we’re selling.
- Connection – Initially, the client wants to target family puzzle enthusiasts. But it’s a bit broad. I need to target it well in every blog post I write. Example: In writing a mother’s day gift for puzzle lover moms, I’m not targeting the blogs to moms. I’m targeting it to dad and kids who’re looking for a mother’s day gift.
- Authority – In working with start-up brands, we’re lifting weights more than usual because we’re working on blank slates. So to establish the SEO authority to their industry, I publish the best puzzle facts, tips on solving puzzles like a pro, listicles of the best jigsaw puzzle brands, + amazon affiliate links.
- Consistency – Content SEO requires time. If you’re working in an agency, you don’t have that luxury because you need to jump from 1 client to another. I can’t mass produce blogs. So it’s a QUALITY > QUANTITY game for me. I published long-form well-researched, and well-optimized content every other week—basically, two blogs per month. (Pro tip: To determine if you need to write long-form/short-form content, check your competitors. Check what’s currently ranking.)
- Call-to-action – CTA is the reason why I love eCommerce SEO. I make sure that there’s always a call-to-action (CTA) in every content, blog, article, or page I publish/optimize. Sure we all love organic growth and ranking, but we’d dig in for the SALES. We also make sure the schema is on point for 4-5 star review rich snippets on SERP.
SEO Results
- 13 Optimized Blogs
- 1st page on Google for our target keywords
- 1st page Content + Product Image SEO
- 4-5 Star Rich snippet
